My name is David. I'm a twenty-five-year-old graphic artist and aspiring writer from the Midwest.
I live my life in pursuit of my passions. My LJ is full of random thoughts and opinions. I love to make people laugh. My interests are broad, ranging from art, film and music to baseball to exotic cars to science, technology and politics. I love open places; like lonely roads, big and small wildernesses, and urban canyons. I like dumb philosophical conversations, learning new things, and generally treating life like I'm on the Discovery Channel.
I don't make it a point to wear it on my sleeve, nor am I really attached to the idea, but I am an atheist. I don't care if you're religious, I don't care what you do with your own body, I don't care what movies you see or what music you listen to, but my imaginary friends can and will kick your imaginary friends' asses.
I'm a geek at heart. I'm a technophile that has been known to rant about theoretical physics. I love the science-fiction and horror genres and I geek out over obscure movies.
My sense of humor tends to be pretty juvenile, but I like salty, dark and thought-provoking humor the best. I have a passion for film above all other artforms. My favorite filmmakers are: Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, David Cronenberg, Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch and Hayao Miyazaki. When it comes to music I have always had ecclectic tastes, but I would describe myself as a metalhead. I like music that is emotive, moody and meaningful; either beautiful or brutal (and ideally both).
I don't drink heavily or do drugs because sex, death metal and simulated violence are so much better.
I'm always studying something.
I like passionate, thoughtful and interesting people. I'm rarely impressed by intellectual or snobbish types. I prefer real people who care about things to fake people who think about things.
